Welcome to the Treasure Chest Book Club

A live online book club for curious kids (ages 7–10) who love to read, talk, craft, and play—Friday fun that fuels their brain.

Bigger adventures. Deeper thinking. Unforgettable fun.

Is your child ready to dive into books with characters who are funny, brave, clever—or sometimes a little bit wicked?

The Treasure Chest Book Club is a seasonal reading experience for kids ages 7–10 who are ready to:

  • Read engaging chapter books independently

  • Build stronger comprehension and vocabulary

  • Participate in purposeful play like games, crafts, debates, and story-based challenges

  • Connect with peers in a safe, structured, and wildly creative learning environment

Each session explores a different series, and each finale features debates and a Face-Off game that brings the books to life.

What’s Inside the Treasure Chest?

Every session is built around our learn-through-play structure:

1. Trivia Games
Reinforce recall, boost comprehension, and spark joy through student lead quizzes and story challenges.

2. Vocabulary Games
I rotate through clever, fast-paced vocab games like:

  • Mystery Word

  • Call My Bluff

  • Whose Line Is It?

  • Six Words

  • Show My Verb

These aren’t worksheets. They’re interactive, laugh-out-loud learning moments that make big words stick.

3. Themed Crafts
Hands-on activities related to each story. Think Viking ships, hamster habitats, and villain masks—simple enough to complete at home, creative enough to connect to comprehension.

4. Book Discussion & Character Debates
We teach kids to talk back to books—ask questions, compare characters, reflect on themes. By the finale, they’re ready for our signature mini-debate where they take on the role of a character or theme and argue their case (in the most fun, age-appropriate way possible).

5. The Tree House Showdown-style Face-Off
We close with a raucous, Jeopardy-inspired game that celebrates everything they’ve read. It’s loud, competitive, and unforgettable.

I balance fun and focus—your reader will feel like they’re just playing, but they’ll be building strong comprehension, speaking skills, and a love for books that sticks.

🧠 Why It Works

The Treasure Chest Book Club is designed to help your child:

  • Build confidence in reading

  • Practice structured conversation

  • Improve vocabulary and memory

  • Develop critical thinking and empathy

  • Experience the joy of finishing a series!

Kids don’t want another lesson—they want to engage.

That’s what this club delivers:

connection, comprehension, and creativity in one.

My approach sneaks in skills like:

  • Analyzing character motivation

  • Using evidence from the text

  • Forming and defending opinions

  • Synthesizing multiple storylines

  • Practicing turn-taking and discussion

Kids don’t just read.

They engage.

I’ve designed this club for busy parents who want more than just “Did you like the book?” conversations. You’ll see your child:

  • Reading more independently

  • Talking about what they read

  • Using new vocabulary naturally

  • Showing up excited every week

Treasure Chest Book Club FAQ

🔸 Does my child need to read the books before each session?

Yes. This club is designed for kids who are able to read each book independently before the weekly meeting. We build on their comprehension through discussion, games, and activities—so it’s important they come prepared.

🔸 What if my child hasn’t finished the book?

We get it—life happens. If they’re close to finishing, they can still attend. But sessions are most engaging (and fun!) when kids are fully caught up. Each session builds on the last, so try to stay on pace whenever possible.

🔸 How do the crafts work? Do you send supplies?

We keep it simple! A supply list is emailed before the session starts, and you’ll likely already have most items at home (think paper, scissors, crayons, tape). Crafts are meant to be low-prep and high-impact—no glue gun drama here.

🔸 What tech does my child need to join?

We use KoalaGo, a child-safe Zoom alternative built for online learning. It runs best on an up-to-date browser like Chrome or Safari, and works on laptops, desktops, and iPads. Please test the platform before the first session to avoid delays.

🔸 What if we miss a session?

We don’t offer recordings, since our club is highly interactive. If you miss one week, your child is welcome to join the next. We’ll always do a quick recap to help them stay connected.

🔸 Is this just for homeschoolers?

Not at all! While some of our members are homeschooled, the club is open to all kids—whether public, charter, or unschooling. I focus on fun, reading confidence, and community.

🔸 What’s included with each session?

Each 4–5 week session includes:

  • Four live, 1-hour club meetings

  • A themed Finale featuring a character debate and “Face-Off” game

  • A digital Journal Kit with story-based activities, prompts, and a printable badge

🔸 Can siblings share a session?

Yes—with a caveat. If they’re in the same age group and can respectfully participate together on one screen, I welcome sibling teams. If they need more personalized attention or tend to interrupt each other, separate enrollments are best.

🔸 Will my child be on camera?

Yes, most of the time. This is a live, interactive club, not a passive class. We keep cameras on to build connection, encourage participation, and ensure a safe environment. If your child is shy, we gently support them until they feel ready to join in.

🔸 Do you offer refunds?

Because space is limited and we prep based on enrollment, we can’t offer refunds once the club begins. If there’s a serious emergency, reach out and I’ll work with you.
